How to take care of silk scarves?

Always follow the maintenance instructions on the label. Before washing the scarf at home or sending it for dry cleaning those instructions must be read carefully.

Cleaning scarves at home
1. Never wash the silk scarf with other clothes of darker shades.
2. The Scarf should not be put in a washing machine as silk is a delicate material and needs to be properly handled.
3. The scarf should be washed in a gentle washing liquid. The cleaning liquid should be prepared first and then the scarf must be put in it.
4. The temperature of the water should not be above 30 degree Celsius.
5.  Immersed the scarf in the water for about ten minutes.
6. Do not stir the scarf to get rid of the dirt, and never twist the scarf.
7. Rinse the scarf properly so that the detergent is completely washed off.
8. After washing, roll the scarf in a towel to dry.
9. Do not expose the scarf to direct sunlight, the colors may fade out easily.
10. Drying machines cannot be used to dry silk scarves as the delicate fiber may get damaged.
11. Store the silk scarves in a dry and airy wardrobe.
12. Do not spray the scarf with deodorants or perfumes.

How to wash a Scarf

If there is special washing instruction on the label, always follow them.  Remember, hand washing and air drying are always better for the fabric, even if the label says you can use a dryer.

Wash your scaft in 10 steps:
1. Fill a bowl with cool water
2. Add small amount of mild detergent to the water and create suds.
3. Put your scarf in the water.  Knead and squeeze it through the subs until it is totally wet.
4. Let the scarf in the water for around 15mins
5. Drain the water
6. Rinse the scarf by holding it under cool tap water.  Squeeze and run it under the faucet until there are no suds left.
7. Gently, squeeze the water out.  Remember not to wring the fabric too hard.
8. Lay the scarf on a towel and roll it, this will help to eliminate a good amount of dampness so it can dry faster.
9. Unroll the towel and lay the scarf on a dry towel to completely dry.
10. Never hang a scarf to dry, this could damange its fibers!

How to clean cashmere scarf?

1. Hand washing works best. Don't try with washing machine or dryer.

2. Use lukewarm water and a very mild soap or shampoo (such as Neutrogena or Dove) and creatre suds.

3. Gently work the suds through the fabric and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

4. NEVER wring or twist the material as it will lose its original shape.

5. Gently squeeze excess water (again, do not wring or twist). Lay the item out on a clean towel, and roll
the towel up, jelly roll style, with the cashmere item in the middle. This will eliminate a good amount of dampness so it can dry.

6. Unroll the towel and lay your scarf flat again on another clean dry towel to finish air-drying.

7. Never hang a scarf to dry, this could damage its fibres.
